Terrible battery mistake April 28, 2007

I’m packing up my place right now.  It’s going pretty quick and easy, which makes me happy.

One thing I was doing was throwing a whole bunch of little shit in a little box: change, switchblades, batteries, motorized toothpicks, etc…

Once it was full I picked it up and noticed it was very hot.  Looking inside I found one of the batteries was very, very hot.  I don’t know what happened exactly.  I assume the change made a circuit and it overheated, but maybe just Jesus is punishing me for hating him so.

Anyway, out of the box the battery is now cooling down, so I guess it wasn’t all that terrible a mistake.

It’ll be wonderful.  Roshambo online!

I’ll play ya, because, as you know, I like to gamble.

A Fake step in the right direction in Turkey? April 25, 2007

Some of my friends no doubt only know of Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan through my frequent referrals to him as a traitor.

In Turkey, it’s the army’s responsibility to remove anyone who endangers or opposes secularism from public service.  This gives them one of the best political structures in the history of the world.  But things have been getting lax and Erdogan, a sometimes jailed religious guy, has been allowed to sit in power for a couple years now.

Horrific.

Then this fear started popping up that he’d become president.  I shit myself with disappointment when I heard about it.  But now I find myself unshitting myself a bit, (slightly, not the whole way, but a bit).

It now looks like he won’t be seeking the position, but that he’s going to back his Foreign Minister Gul for the position.  As far as I knew, this was great news.  Great.
Gul isn’t into religion in politics, and likes the EU.  He’s done plenty of non-dickish things.  I don’t particularly like him, but I don’t think he’s a traitor who the army should take out.

But now I read that he’s maybe not what he seems. His wife wears religious garb for instance, which isn’t his fault, but it’s totally unthinkable that she’d be allowed into  the Presidential Palace in that shit.  People also think he might just be laying low with the religious sentiment, and anyway, at the core of it, he’s not an atheist and has no place in Turkish politics, or politics anywhere.

Turkey has a lot of problems, just like shitty shitty France, but they’ve both been ahead of the rest of the world in their secularism.  Now we see them both drifting into shit.  I don’t generally get all depressed about the state of the world and how everything’s supposed to suck, but this is the sort of stuff that brings me down.

This is pre-Enlightenment stuff.  Unless people are willing to lay it all on the line to protect the Enlightenment we’re fucked.  (I’m not sure what I’m asking peopel to do, it’s very early in the morning and I just found out something amazing that I’m putting in my next blog post, which maybe makes the whole problem of Enlightenment vs. Monsters irrelevant.)

But if there was to be war, what would it look like? April 24, 2007

Again, I’m not advocating war with Japan like I have with most other countries.

But if we did have to go to war with Japan, this startling military training footage gives us some idea of what our soldiers would have to face.

Could you ask them to face that?

Don’t watch this until you’ve read my warning.

I now listen to this song on repeat, and you might too. It’s addictive and life-draining.

It’s an ad for Tarako fish egg pasta sauce apparently.

For once I’m not advocating war.

I’m just trying to bring it to your attention that something has gone wrong over there.

Is it our fault? Something we did to them? I’m not going to let anyone blame the nukes. Nukes are good great. But there must have been some way we contributed to this horror, if only so that there’s some hope that some action of ours could have an effect, could stop contributing.

These little dolls are full of fish eggs.

Japan’s not initially terrifying. Certainly this video, taken in isolation, isn’t. It’s just as you see more and more of this stuff it gets under your skin.

We gotta fight Christians! April 23, 2007

Nothing new from me, I know.  I start building a militia at the drop of a hat, (then fall asleep at the drop of another hat), and am always ready to fight the Christians.

But this time I’m even more serious.  We all already knew that amongst the crazy fuckers (Christians) there were crazier fuckers (fundamentalists) amongst whom were crazier fuckers (Dominionists), but now it turns out that the crazy subset within that subset is way bigger than I had thought.

At least according to this half-read article.  I’m sure at the end the article just says that it was all a big joke to scare the shit out of me (in particular), but I never got there (went to sleep and haven’t gotten around to it).

Anyway, I figure this will get me back off my ass and into politics.  I wish that I didn’t have to and the FBI would just go into these groups and get everyone killing each other like in the old days.  I guess there’s nothing you can do to undermine a movement if it’s not into drugs or sex though.

Maybe we could just build a wall around them?  That’s gotten oddly popular again these days, though all the wall builders seem to be asswipes.

I’ll get to work turning the Young Wellingtons and JACL (Junior Anti-Communist League) into proper Christian-fighting groups in the meantime.

Credit problems April 23, 2007

After years of applying for credit cards and being denied because of debt, fraud, lying, no income, etc… I finally got one!

I’m like a non-criminal member of society now!

This great success, which came after putting my employment down as “Professional Poker Player”, made me think back on all the other occupations I’ve put down on credit card and bank applications over the years.*  I won’t make a wonderful list or anything, just note that my two favourites were “Secret Lawyer for Columbian Drug Cartel”, and “1950’s German Terrorist from TV”.**

(Perhaps these things are on my credit record, along with “broken every deal he’s ever made so far”.)

Apparently though, I can repair my credit and wipe away my past indiscretions in only two years if I work diligently at being a good credit customer over the next while.  Yippee!

*-Only on one’s I knew would be denied.

**-For anyone looking it up, this doesn’t actually refer to anything that existed.

Which animals can you make fight in toronto? April 22, 2007

A friend of mine and I were lamenting the lack of animal fights in Toronto after I read somewhere that the future of the Bullfight was “up in the air” in Spain.

the one true sportWe listed off some of the best animal sports we knew of, from tying a bear to a pole and letting dogs attack it (the one good thing to come out of Russia), to putting a duck in a box with a hole in it and poking it with a stick incessantly throughout a wedding (it’s a German thing). The sad truth of it all is that all these pleasures are illegal in Canada.

I think.

Which makes me more and more want to live on a giant yacht in international waters where I can addict kittens to cocaine and make them fight for it. It seems like international waters, Vegas, and Dubai are the only places left in the world where you can have both effective plumbing and the opportunity to do things that you enjoy. Also maybe Indian reserves. (Though I suspect they don’t want to get as identified with animal “cruelty” as they are with gambling and cheap cigarettes.)

Peggy Nash, MP ParkdaleI wish writing my MP would have some effect. I know all that talk of how they treat each letter as if it were worth 1000 people or something, but it just seems impossible, even if everyone I knew got together and wrote to our MP, that it would make any difference.

I suppose our only hope, as usual, is a military coup, which has been a long time coming anyway.

Uriduct April 22, 2007

I’m considering building an aqueduct for my urine that leads from my computer, across my apartment, and into my toilet.

This isn’t just laziness at work.  Right now, since I’ve put a fridge in my washroom, (it’s not for what you think), it’s very hard to get in there, especially when I’m playing poker and rushing.  With a Uriduct it will be much easier.

What’s holding me back isn’t the judgment of others, but that in order for the urine to rise, I think it’ll have to first pool.  Which is disgusting.

I’m going to look into it though, as I might as well.
