Stephane Dion named his dog Kyoto after the Kyoto Protocol. I think I’m going to puke.
I’m fine with everyone signing Kyoto and all, but it’s such an unloveable agreement no matter what side you’re coming at it from. That’s like naming your dog “Nicias”!*
*- I’m a peice of shit for that reference, I know. But pretend that when you were a kid and all the other kids were playing and shit you decided to read Thucydides over and over. That lost childhood can only be made up for by making Thucydides references and writing epic accounts of the shit you do.

I was reading Deutsche Welle today, as you might figure from the second to last post, and I came across an article about a healthy cooking course in Germany.I don’t know what led me to look at it, but I did, and contained within was this picture:
What am I to make of this? Is the kid wearing a sumo-padding suit to illustrate a point? His face is very large, so probably not, but look at the arms, it looks so fake. I’m very worried about this boy, not just because he’ll never see his teens, but also because he’s wearing a red leather muscleshirt, which is always a horrible clothing choice.
As with all things, I think it can only be solved by sending this kid to the army, (which, thank god, unless the laws change or he dies, they eventually will), or the army just taking over society.

Eurobike is in retreat today as Degenerati Portland declared another victory in the Ongoing Struggle Against the use of Unicycles, Bicycles, Tricycles, or any sort of Extremist Group which Loves Bikes and Uses them as a Method of Transportation (OSAUBToASEGWLBUMoT).

Germany’s Jews Mull Future as Immigration Drops November 29, 2006

I guess I understand the complaints in this article, that German Jews believe the “not as Jewish as they should be” Russian Jews are weakening the identity of the community. When a 15,000 person minority is “swamped” with 206,000 new members, of which I think the article indicated as many as half don’t speak the langauge, it can be hard to continue giving primacy to your particular traditions over theirs, an understandable desire considering the effort that community has made to survive at all.
And I understand Israel’s complaint that because Jews generally prefer to move to Germany rather than Israel it’s hurting Israel’s ability to populate all the new land they keep acquiring.
I guess I understand these complaints, but I don’t agree. It runs up against my dual desire to have immigration totally free everywhere, and for the Jewish community in Germany to once again be thriving and large. It makes me unhappy to see how these things have led to a massive drop this year in Jewish immigration to Germany, especially since the immigrants now not coming are generally Russian Jews, meaning they live in one of the most terrifying places in the world and every effort should be made to welcome them elsewhere.
It’s funny though because I remember posting way back an article on the problems Israel was having integrating Russian Jews, who they complained kept starting and joining neo-Nazi groups in Israel, which seems like a pretty substantial complaint against them, and I would have suspected one major enough to dull Israel’s desire for new Russian Jewish immigrants. But I guess it wasn’t.
Anyway, the article’s worth a read.

I haven’t even read the article, because I can’t be bothered, but it was on digg, and I’ll stop at nothing to cry out whenever I can on the horrors that are bikes.
Bikes MUST be banned. I’ve been saying this for some time, and not just because in Parkdale in the summer i get hit by at least one hipster on a bike a day — I also hate them for other reasons probably.
[Horrible update: I just read the first sentence of the article and apparently it also causes pain! I have no women's genitals, only a bold and heroic Man's genitals, but I imagine having painful women's genitals is bad.]
[Horrible update 2: I didn't read more of the article, but I thought about it, and maybe if the genitals are becoming painful, they might fall off! So the article should be called "Biking makes your vagina fall off!"]
