Himmler defined his SS as a new type of man who does nothing for it’s own sake.  Reading that I realize that a large part of the left is in the SS.  Mostly just anarchists though…

The blog isn’t dead, just wounded May 27, 2006

Contrary to popular belief, the blog isn’t dead.  It is recuperating at an undisclosed location, and is expected to make a full recovery.
I decided after montreal to not talk to anyone and just devote myself entirely to video games for a whole week.  Video games lose their interest incredibly fast though, so I did other things instead, but stuck to the not talking to people.

Anyway, today I’m going to a protest.  I’m not sure what it’s about, but people told me it would interest me.  That either means it’s a military putsch or against anti-immigration policies.  There’s an outside chance that there’s just some free baklava being given out, but I’m not sure people would have called that a protest or “demo”.
I don’t like going to protests, since I think they’re pretty silly.  But I figure I might as well, though I sort of can’t walk that well right now, (I semi-secretly have recieved semi-serious foot and leg wounds in the past week.)  This is going to be the closest thing to doing political work with friends that I’ve done in years.  (I don’t really consider protests political work, but out of kindness to others I’m pretending I do here.  (I’ve decided to adopt a flamboyant and obviously condescending kindness as a way of being extra unkind to others.))  I consider it extra important to never let my political and social worlds meet, after years of living/working in a world where they were combined.  And even, in the last three months, I’ve done hard work to make sure the two can never meet up by reducing how much political work and socializing I do at all.  This last week has been awesome, since I’ve got it down to almost nothing.  (My ultimate goal is to figure out how to be anti-political, since i already have anti-social (PD) down pat.  Once I have that figured out, I can cease to have a political or social existence and they can never bump into each other.  But seriously folks, I really don’t combine the two anymore.  It’s a good idea and I’m pretty impressed by how it works.  In fact, I’ve decided to claim the idea as my own, and take on the title of greatest genius ever.  (I’ve lost track of how my parentheses are working right now and I’m just going to quit this entry.  Parentheses can be a very difficult thing.  I wish someone would write a text editor for blogs that kept track of opened parentheses the way code editors do.  Probably they have, but what I really mean is that I wish Performancing (the most wondrous firefox blog editor) did.)))))))))))))))))))))

P.S. Maybe next week I’ll get back to regular posting of nonsense.

Maybe you’ve heard good things about Montreal May 22, 2006

Well, they’re not true.   Any of them.  (Except that one of the buildings reminded me of Toronto.)  Distrust whoever said good things about it.  It’s like a mix of Kitchener and Ottawa, but stupider.  I can’t go on about it anymore without wanting to hurt myself, so that’s all I have to say.  I left promising to return only if to bloodily sack it.

I did get to see some people I missed a surprising amount there though.

I’m starting to read fiction (to humanize my self, of course) May 18, 2006

I went upstairs and cleaned out teh people who live upstairs’ library of any fiction that seemed worth reading, and also the Chrysalids. I read the Chrysalids first so that whatever came next would look good. It worked.
I still hate fiction though. The personality and idiotic ideas of the author are more on display than in non-fiction, or say in a blog. If they can put stupid ideas about what it feels like to love, or how society should be organized (if only we were martian sex-telepaths) in someone elses’ mouth, these folks exercise no restraint. It murders me. I only enjoy it in the few cases where its just so preachy in a juevenile way that it becomes loveable, like in Heinlein.
Next up is Baudolino. Just wait, in a week I’ll be talking about art or something.

Today I had two conversations with strangers in rapid succession.
The first was a guy who asked me if I believed in god right after I got off the subway.  I said “No, but he believes in me.”  I thought that was clever and expressed a good amount of self-important arrogance.  Apparently that’s like one of their lines though, and it only encouraged him.  The rest of the conversation isn’t worth repeating outside of court.

The second conversation happened when I passed construction guys tearing up the street.
ME: Hey, my dad built that street!
CONSTRUCTOR: What?
ME: You can’t do that, my dad built this street in the seventies.
CONSTRUCTOR: Well I’m just doing my job.
ME: Thats exactly what Hitler said at his trial.  “Just doing my job.”
CONSTRUCTOR: Hitler’s dead.
ME: Well, he is now.

My dad’s never built a street, (except for some on the information superhighway), but I felt I acheived my goal in the conversation, to further spread the lie that Hitler was arrested in 1947 and went on trial and was jailed until the 70’s, when he died of Pancreatic cancer.  I haven’t gotten around to adding it to the sometimes cesspool that Wikipedia can be, but I really should soon.
I’ve left Wikipedia alone since the whole hotdatenight.com thing, and I feel like it’s about time I launched another offensive.  People must be misinformed.

Two shows that I, uh, don’t really watch or anything, I just happen to see them sometimes… Lost and Prison Break*… are engaged in a kill-off.  A competition to see who can wipe out their cast first.  Lost has a bigger cast right now, I think, and they’re about to add in a bunch of others, so I’m trying to weigh that as part of the equation when figuring out who’s winning.  Still, after the last two episodes of Prison Break, it’s pulled into the lead: partly because it’s killing major players.  Last night it confirmed that Nick and that old guy are dead, and added Sarah, probably Teabag, and the yankee President.  Sarah is worth at least as much as Anna Lucia and Libby from Lost.  She’s probably worth them, plus Boone.  Nick is probably equal to Shannon.  That still leaves a couple Lost people, but shitloads of Prison Break majors.  Prison Break’s failing though is that the actors who play the characters in it who die, aren’t usually actually killed (the old guy with the money who used to have a cat really died though, as did his cat.)  On Lost, they almost always were actually killed or arrested.  The producers’ decision to use real polar bears, Irish, and drunk drivers led to this exciting realism.
All this is a welcome change from BattleStar Galactica, which I don’t actually watch either, where they held off on killing President Rosalind, magically curing her cancer with babies blood in a way that they haven’t felt the need to address at anytime after that episode ended.  Sure they killed that guy who looked like a tall 12 year old, but only as a replacement for Apollo or Starbuck’s deaths.  Bullshit.  If I watched that show I’d be pissed.

In the spirit of the writing assignment from my last post, I’ll tell you who I would kill, and how, from each of these shows I don’t watch:
Lost: Jack.  I hate him so much.  If he comes on screen you know he’s going to wrestle with his inner demons or something and just fail to be someone I can stand.  How: don’t care, just make it real, and have no one flashback to him, unless it’s just to giggle about his death.
Prison Break: Lincoln.  He should have died months ago, like minutes after Michael got in prison.  How: there should be some kind of electrical malfunction next time he sits in a car or something and his seat should ironically electrocute him.  And C-Note should die in front of his family, just for being so heroically anti-torture over in Iraq.  That’s what you get.
BattleStar Galactica: I don’t remember.  I haven’t seen it in a while.  So just kill anyone who’s emotional.  I can’t take that shit.  How: do it bloody and often.

*- Lost is a TV show about people whose plane has crashed (way off course) in Ireland, and who are hunted/toyed with by child-stealing wizards, (or as they’re usually called: “the Irish”).  Prison Break is about a prison break.
